WATSON
2008
polarized light box
Watson is a light box with two perceivable surfaces. While the first surface is luminous, the second is one of opacity and ornament, visible only by peering through a polarized loupe. Different patterns emerge from the intentional rearrangement of ornamental elements. In this way, those "peering" share a dynamic experience that is invisible to the rest of the visitors, who can be brought into the interaction by peering themselves.
This project was a part of 18% Gray: Experiments in Editing Light at the Fabbrica del Vapore at the Salone del Mobile 2008 in Milan, and has been published in Domus and Elle Decor Italia.
